Marital Status of a person in the EOA means the status or condition of being:
a) Single;
b) Married;
c) Married but living separately and apart from one’s spouse;
d) Divorced; or
e) Widowed.
Discrimination on the grounds of a person’s marital status occurs where a person of a particular martial status is treated less favourably than another person of a different martial status, in circumstances that are same or not materially different.
The acts of discrimination can be in employment, education, provision of goods and services and provision of accommodation.
